Professional Article Review

Vanity Fair
The article that I have chosen is "Ryan Lochte Teammates Admit He Fabricated Robbery Story, Police Say". This article comes from Vanity Fair published on August 18, 2016, written by Abigail Tracy. The article is about a supposed "mugging" during the Rio 2016 Olympics which ended up being false and the renowned swimmer, Ryan Lochte, it receiving  the backlash. Eventually news surfaced that the swimmers had vandalized a bathroom and a language barrier cause them to interpret a demand for money to fix the bathroom as a life threat. The author is trying to argue that the swimmers are receiving too much hate for what they did and the media is making the ordeal to be much bigger than it actually was. Tracy says "Despite growing speculation that the Olympians’ accounts were fabricated".

Abigail Tracy did a very good job with showing all sides of the story throughout the article and providing evidence from a variety of sources. However the author made it very unclear if it was supposed to be a news article or her opinion on the topic. There are few times that she states her opinion but not enough to make it clear what type of article it was supposed to be. The author also used a lot of bold words and added links to make the article easier to read and obtain more information on the topic. In conclusion, the author did a very good job providing detailed information on the topic, the only critique that I would have is that she needed to add more of her opinion or don't add her opinion at all. Overall I believe that the article was very well done and the topic was defiantly researched in depth.
