This year in Graphic Design learned a lot about working with clients and working with other people. I did two client projects towards the end of the year this year that I really enjoyed doing. I used the opinions of my peers and a lot of inspiration from Pinterest to make some very cute tank tops. I learned a lot about sizing and colors as well as price and manufacturing. Through doing this project I now know that a shirt that has a one color design will be significantly cheaper than one with multiple colors. My other client project was creating a flyer for the Dance Team Spring Show. In this project I collaborated a lot with Abby and learned how to utilize other people's thought and opinions in creating a poster. I will use these skills in the future if I am ever asked to do more graphic designing for the Dance Team.
I don't see myself using Graphic Design much in the future. Next year I will be going into convergence journalism and don't need to use these skills furthermore. However, I will still be around graphic design a lot as my Dad does a lot of graphic designing professionally. In fact, he has asked me to assist him on a new project as the public relations chair for a new clothing line he is hoping to create.
I feel that this class was not very structured with the new grading system. Students did not feel the need to complete their projects or do them very lazily. I also feel that a lot of the projects we did were very repetitive and I used all the same skills for each of the project. In the future i would really appreciate if the students could give some input of what we want to learn rather than creating a lot of pointless irrelevant projects.
The greatest lessons I have learned in this class have not been graphic designing but how to handle myself when working with clients and project management skills. I have enjoyed my time in this class and will forever remember the memories I have made.
