Personal Project
Every year Olathe Northwest host the 'Raven Week of Giving' and this year my partner Sydney Weeks and I volunteered to create a vignette for the school to watch every morning. The assignment was to interview a variety of people from around the school about their volunteer service and make four 3 minute videos featuring three people in each. The process began by reading through the applications and selecting 12 people we thought should be highlighted for their service. We then began the 3 day process of interviewing all of the candidates. The next step was the most difficult, I spent 17 hours editing all of the footage and putting together the 4 videos found above. The next week was when the videos were shown and we received a tremendous about of positive feedback.
This projects taught me how to make conversation with people that I did not know and also taught me very good time management skills. While I waited for my interview subjects I would be editing on the laptop wherever I was. Something I would do differently is give the people more specific time for their interview because we had told them anytime during a certain hour but we spent a lot of time waiting around. I loved this project and it was very rewarding to see your handwork pay in front of the whole school.
